This blog will contain my insights on racism and whether it should be viewed as hilarious. According to Wikipedia; Racism is the belief that there are differences in people's traits and capabilities that are entirely
due to their race which leads to racial discrimination (i.e. different treatment of those people, both socially and legally).
This is obviously a negative concept and often have been the root cause of bullying, hate crimes and so on. Bear in mind that racism was also known to have caused the World War. (Nazis against Jewish)
Racism at work and the hate crimes that come with it is often not tolerated in most countries. In severe cases, the ones who engage in racist acts such as hate crimes are penalized by the law. However, there are also many other severe cases where people get away with severe acts of racism.
Aahh just writing about the serious side of racism depresses me..
Anyway, taking everything into consideration, how do you think should one view racism?
- Should I start carrying a knife with me and stab anyone who starts calling me 'chinky'?
- Shoul I cry, get depressed and eventually hang myself just because some tramp is calling me a cheap 'thai wife'? (NO I AM NOT EVEN THAI and my bf is not white, he's a china man)
- OR should I laugh and just simply think racism is hilarious? Maybe I should start carrying a billboard with me that says racism is super duper hilarious! with laughing background music HAHAHA!
Personally, I will opt for viewing racism as hilarious!
I have had children before of different race calling me 'oi chinky ima slap yo face!' How did I react?? In my mind I wanted to do my Jackie Chan flying kicks and start doing some yakuza moves lool..Naahh, they're just little children so instead I've stretched my eyes like a china man, laughed at them and walked off. *Sigh ignoring them have never felt soo goood!!
|This is my world and not a single negative concept of racism in here..aaahh peace of mind!|
I believe that the ones who are viewing racism in a negative way are only inflicting hate and misery not only with themselves but also with others. Racism will always exist without a doubt but should one react negative towards the concept racism and perhaps start World War 3?
OR should one just piss themselves laughing at the concept of racism?
I remember watching the film 'White Chicks', the scene when all the girls were in the car and they started playing hip hop r&b music. One of the girls sang along to the song and said the 'N' word by mistake, the other white girl reacted violently 'I cant believe you just said the N word!!'. Here is the video from youtube;
YES the infamous N word of which even I am uncomfortable of saying in public. Should one really view the N word as a racist remark? Should it be viewed in a negative way? Should we teach our kids to obviously avoid the word and curse their friends who says the N word? Instances like these were one says a racist remark and the other reacts in a negative way often results to violence. How should one really view racism? I am not claiming to be an expert just an average person blogging my insights on this subject area.
Anyway, in the past I have had many random people call me chinky, china, thai hoe, dim sum blahblah the list goes on. Even in my previous work place, I have had one of my former foreign work mate who has called me china for years. It did take him a while to call me by my name but I find it hilarious and I used to have bear jokes with him about my new name china. A few of my workmates asked me 'do you not find his remarks offending'. I answered 'No, I think it's hilarious!'
We are in the 20th century now and the concept racism could possibly be evolving. Evidently, there are many role models out there who are proud of their ethnicity and 'perhaps' have embraced the racist comments that come with it.

In extreme cases, if one gets harrassed and experiences assault due to racism then that's a different story. I'll probably advice you to shoot the muda fucka! NOT! just kidding but the ultimate question really is 'Is it best for racism to be viewed as hilarious?'
I have written enough, I will leave it up to readers to the readers to ones again make their own judgement. For my insights on religion please visit my other post ''Religion, A way of life??'
